This year the preparations for the "big" day started some days earlier. Our students were waiting eagerly to meet with our friends once more. So, on the 9th of May we gathered at the amphitheatre of our school to take part in the netmeeting.
First we presented a theatrical happening of the seizure of Europe from Zeus who was tranformed into a vicius taurus (hard time for Europe...).
Then, five dancers wearing the traditional costumes of each partner-country made some maypole dancing.
All the children wanted to talk about themselves and Europe.
And finally, this is our passionate flamengo! Our students really loved it!!!
These are some activities we did last week, Europe's week.
Pupils of secondary helped younger students to colour some Greeks tradictional customes.
1st and 2nd of Primary coloured a nice cutout related on Italy.
3rd and 4th of Primary copied and coloured traditional polish costumes.
And finally, 5th and 6th of Primary made a collage with the traditional scottish costume.
The 9th of May, students flied some kites fulled of poems and read some words and sentences about Europe
The last performance... the scottish dance!! the reel!!

We had fun on Europe Day. We had practiced our Italian Dance, the Tarantella. The senior class, Primary 7, learned it first with the help of their teacher, Ms O'Connor, and they taught it to the other senior class, P7/6 and then both classes taught Primary 4 and 4/5. We practiced the day before Europe day and then after the video conference we went outside into the playground and danced together.
When we got back upstairs we had a surprise, we had food from the countries of our partner schools to try, yummy! Some of the things we had to eat were:
From Italy we had
salami, sundried tomatoes, breadsticks with tomato dip, Italian cheese,
From Spain we had
manchego cheese, serano ham, tortilla, griddled peppers
From Poland we had,
Polish pate, sausage, cabbage, chocolate, biscuits
From Greece we had
Feta cheese with olives, honey, nougat, hummus,
and much more!
Here is the video of the dance. We decorated the playground with Italian flags! It was cold outside but it was at least dry!!
